About
Sandra Naaman, MD, PhD, is an assistant professor of medicine and medical director of the Cancer Survivorship, Medical Subspecialties, and Endo-Oncology Program at Rush MD Anderson Cancer Center. Her program sits at the intersection of endocrinology and oncology — a clinical niche she has been instrumental in building and defining.
Triple board-certified in internal medicine, endocrinology, and hypertension, Dr. Naaman's clinical focus centers on the endocrine consequences of cancer treatment: metabolic bone disease, treatment-induced menopause, the hormonal effects of immune therapies, and the long-term metabolic sequelae that shape survivors' quality of life. She has been recognized as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor for her work in this space.
Dr. Naaman earned her MD and PhD at the University of Ottawa and completed residency and fellowship training at the University of Chicago, where she subsequently led the Breast Cancer Survivorship Program. Her research investigates bone health during breast cancer treatment and the metabolic effects of weight loss in cancer survivors, with the overarching goal of improving long-term health outcomes in this growing population.
Beyond her clinical and research work, Dr. Naaman is deeply committed to education and mentorship — training the next generation of clinicians to navigate the evolving complexity of survivorship medicine.
