Best Rabbit Vibrator
We-Vibe Nova 2
Pros
- 10 vibration patterns
- Flexible G-spot silicone arm, up to 30 degrees
Cons
- Higher cost than some rabbit vibrators
- The many settings could overwhelm a novice
With a phallic shaft for vaginal stimulation and a clitoral stimulator attached that resembles bunny ears, rabbit vibrators are a popular choice for people with vulvas, and this model from We-Vibe is a longtime favorite for its high number of vibration patterns and unique flexibility.
The Nova 2 rabbit vibrator has 10 vibration patterns to help you find the intensity that feels right for you. It’s made from body-safe silicone, with two flexible arms. To reach the G-spot, one arm bends for easier insertion and positioning. The tip is cushioned to help fit into your unique internal curves. The external arm is designed to make constant contact with the clitoris, no matter how the internal arm is positioned. You can also connect and control the settings for your Nova 2 via Bluetooth with the We-Connect mobile app, which lets you pair remotely with a partner for couple play. It’s waterproof, so you can use it in the bath or shower, and the battery lasts up to two hours on a single charge.

Best G-Spot Vibrator
Lelo Gigi 3
Pros
- Beginner friendly
- Extra app modes
- Quiet
- Doubles as clitoral stimulator
Cons
- Takes 2 hours to charge
- May not be strong enough for some
This vibrator’s soft, flat silicone surface and 3.5-inch insertable length are designed to access the G-spot, even if you’ve never used a vibrator this way before. At the same time, because it has eight manual settings (plus two extra settings available only through the app), even those well-versed in G-spot stimulation will enjoy it. It’s also completely waterproof (as long as you don’t expose the charging port).
If you want to switch things up, it works well as a clitoral stimulator too. In our research, we found that people are happy with how quiet it is, but some users are dissatisfied with its vibration strength.

Best Stroker
Lovense Gush 2 Motion
Pros
- Hands-free stroking option
- Controlled by buttons or app
- Fits range of sizes
- Reacts to motion sensor
- Syncs with other toys, games, videos
Cons
- Design has the potential to pinch skin
- Shorter length than other masturbators
The Gush is a wraparound vibrating massager that adjusts to fit any circumference, and includes a silicone band you can wrap around the masturbator to increase pressure and keep it securely in place. It’s a great option for those who might have mobility issues or prefer a hands-free experience. With the app, you can also give control to a partner in the room or on the other side of the world. The app also syncs with other Lovense toys you can use on yourself or with a partner, and it syncs with games, music, and interactive videos.
In our survey, a majority of those who purchased a masturbator (71 percent) said comfort was the most important priority for this type of sex toy. Our research found that some say the Gush’s adjustable design has the potential to pinch skin.

Best Couples’ Sex Toy
We-Vibe Sync 2
Pros
- Hands-free
- Remote or app control
- 10 vibration modes
- Can be worn during intercourse
Cons
- Fit doesn’t work for everyone
- App connectivity not always reliable
The Sync 2 is a U-shaped vibrating toy that can be used on its own or worn during intercourse, with one end inserted in the vagina for G-spot stimulation and the other end resting over the clitoris. You can use it with a remote control or connect it to the We-Vibe app to change its settings, increase the intensity of the 10 vibration modes, and control the toy from a distance. It’s completely waterproof and lasts up to 120 minutes on a 90-minute charge.
Though it has a hinge to adjust its fit and positioning, our research shows that some people don’t love how it fits or moves around if worn while walking. Some also find that the vibrations aren’t strong enough for them.

Best Wand Vibrator
Magic Wand Rechargeable
Pros
- Strong vibrations
- Lasts up to three hours
- Can be used for non-sexual massage
- Long handle
Cons
- Not waterproof
- No gentle settings
- For external use only
This Magic Wand Rechargeable (formerly known as the Hitachi Magic Wand before the company was sold) has the same classic shape and power that have made it famous for generations, now in a cordless form. If you’ve avoided the other toys on this list because we mentioned that some find the vibrations not powerful enough, this is the option for you.
While people may have called this a “massager” with a wink, it is actually useful for massaging sore muscles — and for vibrating any erogenous zone that can withstand its strength. There are no gentle settings among the four you can choose from, but there are eight different vibration patterns. This wand is not waterproof, and it’s intended for external use only.

Best Panty Vibrator
Lovense Ferri
Pros
- Up to 195 minutes battery life
- Connect by app or computer
- Stays put with magnet
- Quiet
Cons
- App connectivity issues reported
- Vibrations are not very strong
Panty vibrators are discreet devices designed to be worn in your underwear and used anytime, anywhere, because it’s quiet enough to go unnoticed by others. When connected to the Lovense app (on a phone or a PC), you or a partner can control it, using an unlimited number of vibration patterns (there’s a database of more than 10,000 available) or even setting it on a timer. The app can sync to music, too. The waterproof silicone toy has a rechargeable battery that provides 195 minutes of use and 100 hours of standby time after 1 hour of charging.
In our research, we found that many enjoy how discreet the toy is, but some have been frustrated by problems connecting it to the app.

Best Bullet Vibrator
We-Vibe Tango X
Pros
- Easy to hold
- Powerful vibrations
- Compact
- Travel lock
Cons
- More expensive than other bullet vibrators
- Not for those who prefer buzzy vibrations
This compact, lipstick-shaped bullet vibrator can go from gentle to powerful to suit your needs, with eight levels and seven vibration patterns. It has a silicone base for easy holding, while the business end is ABS plastic. It lasts for up to 2 hours on a 90-minute charge. It’s waterproof, too, but definitely only for external use. This is a great device to take on the go, not just for its size but also for its travel lock, which prevents it from accidentally going off in your bag. While many love it, some may prefer a vibrator that gives more of a buzz instead of this one’s rumble.

Best Clitoral Stimulator
Womanizer Premium 2
Pros
- 14 settings
- Up to 4 hours battery life
- Comes with two size options
- Silent standby mode
Cons
- Air-pressure stimulation isn’t for everyone
- Pricey
Instead of vibrations, this device uses the brand’s Pleasure Air Technology, which stimulates the clitoris with air pressure and suction for a pretty intense sensation. The Premium 2 has 14 levels of power, as well as an autopilot mode, which varies the intensity in unpredictable ways. It lasts for 240 minutes on a single charge and is completely waterproof. It also comes with two stimulator head sizes, so you can find the right fit. This sensation isn’t for everyone, however, and it comes at a premium price.

Best Dildo
Belleza Luxe Dildo
Pros
- Available in multiple sizes
- Works with suction or in a harness
- Good for beginners
Cons
- Not for those who prefer a realistic shape
- Too soft for some

Best Butt Plug
Maude Cone
Pros
- Beginner-friendly size
- FDA-grade silicone
- Inexpensive
- Easy to clean
Cons
- May not be exciting for seasoned users
Sexual wellness brand Maude, whose co-creative director is actress Dakota Johnson, makes some beautiful sex toys. Even the humble butt plug gets the aesthetic treatment here. It comes in a beginner-friendly small size, with a full length of 4.25 inches (insertable length 3.5 inches) and a 1.5-inch diameter (1-inch insertable).
The company also makes a medium-size Cone (5.75 inches long with a 2.15-inch diameter) that vibrates at three speeds.

Best Cock Ring
We-Vibe Pivot 2
Pros
- Flexible silicone fits most
- Pairs with app
- Waterproof
- Provides rumbling vibration
Cons
- Some don’t find its placement enjoyable

How We Chose the Best Sex Toys
We spent more than 300 hours conducting in-depth research on sex toys to bring you this list. Throughout this process, we conducted a survey of 600 sex toy buyers, consulted with 11 sexual health experts and nurse practitioners, and reviewed academic research into the benefits of sex and sex toys. We also mystery shopped 15 brands of sex toys and tested eight sex toys. To update this story since its initial run, we also consulted customer and competitor reviews to find the most current and liked toys on the market for a variety of preferences and needs.
How to Find the Right Sex Toy for You
“When trying to find the right sex toy, it is important to have some idea of what parts of your body give you the most pleasure,” says Andrea Martin, a sexual medicine nurse practitioner based in Rockville, Maryland. “Is it the clitoris, G-spot, frenulum, prostate?”
If you intend to use the toys with a partner, it’s important to have conversations about what you each want to get out of a new purchase. In our survey of 600 sex toy users, 23 percent said they purchased a sex toy because they wanted to improve their intimacy and relationship with their partner, improve their sex life, and break the monotony.
Whether your toy is for partnered or solo use, Rebecca Blanton, a kink and sex educator based in Nevada City, California, encourages you to ask yourself questions during masturbation to help identify the types of touch you enjoy. “How firm or soft do you want the pressure? What is missing?” She adds that if you are living with limited mobility or a condition that limits certain types of movement (e.g., carpal tunnel syndrome), you may want to look for toys designed to address those issues. For example, Lauren Haines, a sexual health nurse practitioner and founder of Integrative Sexual Wellness in Raleigh, North Carolina, says that “many people love vibrators because they can stimulate blood flow and improve sensation, but others feel like vibrators are too powerful and prefer more gentle options.”
Nina Nguyen, a sex educator based in Berlin, Germany, and cofounder of the sexual education site Fraulila, says, “If you are not shy, walk down to a sex shop and simply browse around. You can ask someone to guide you in the right direction and help answer any questions you have on the spot. Alternatively, do some extensive research online and order an inexpensive sex toy to give it a try.”
Haines recommended doing your own research at online stores like Lovehoney and Babeland. “These companies have a huge variety of toys and also offer information and advice for different types of toys if you’re not sure what you’re looking for,” she says.
Health Benefits of Using Sex Toys
How to Use Sex Toys Safely
Not to be boring, but the first step should be to read the user manual of your toy. “When using a sex toy, it’s always best practice to keep in mind the limits of your body and your toy,” says Kate Delgado, a Los Angeles-based sex educator and writer at the sex toy company Lioness. “Misusing a toy — such as submerging it in water when it’s not intended to be used that way — can lead to the toy breaking or bodily injury.”
Some other important tips from our experts:
- Lubricant can reduce friction and make many toys more comfortable to use, but be sure to stick to water-based lube with silicone toys, because silicone lube will break down the material.
- Clean toys thoroughly after each use, and make sure they’re dry before storing.
- Store toys in a clean, cool, and dry place, preferably in the case or bag it came with.
FAQ
“Once you’re done using a sex toy, clean it with antibacterial soap or a sex toy cleaner and warm water before rinsing and air-drying it,” says Rachel Sommer, a clinical sexologist. If the toy is not waterproof, be careful not to submerge it in water.
Finding the best toy comes down to your own preferences — from rabbit vibrators and dildos to massage wands and butt plugs, there’s a variety of options. Martin recommends starting with finding the parts of your body that give you the most pleasure.
